This course is an intensive 9-month program that's delivered entirely online. The material is organized into 3 trimesters of 10 classes each, each class lasting 2 hours. Additionally, you'll have access to over 30 hours of bonus asana classes to accompany the lessons. All together, it's over 90 hours of material that you'll be able to come back to over and over again.
Each class includes...
An opening somatization. Amy guides you and the other students through a sensory experience of the muscles, bones, ligaments, joints you'll study that day. This way, you might have a felt sense of the material before you start looking at words and pictures.
A discussion element. Learning from peers is an integral part of the learning process. Listening to the experience that others have, and expanding your library of possible experiences broadens your own movement possibilities and makes you more receptive to what your students might come across in class.
Learning from drawings. Amy commissioned beautiful black and white drawings of the muscles, bones, ligaments, and joints we'll cover in this course. We'll use these as a template, label the parts, fill them in with color, and find the connections. The kinesthetic experience of coloring is one way to encourage learning, as well as using the colors themselves, which often help us learn better than just black and white.
Learning from words. Amy has extensive notes and references for each class so you can see the common names of the structures you're learning about. Also, a detailed Table of Contents will be available for each transcript, making it easy for you to find exactly what you're looking for in your notes or when you review a video.
A movement experience. After you have an idea of where the structures are, how they function, and how they are integrated into your body, Amy guides you through a physical exploration themed on that day's class.
Personalized homework interaction. On each class page, there's a button that will lead you to a homework submission form customized for that class. You can submit it all online, and then our dedicated "Homework Maven" will get back to you with thoughts, questions, and follow-up to be sure you feel comfortable with the material you're learning in class.

Amy covers this vast subject in two parts. This course focuses on the muscles of the body, and her companion course focuses on bones & ligaments.

Is there a timeline for the course?
There is no fixed timeline or deadline for the course. You may sign up whenever you want, watch the classes as it works for your schedule, ask Amy questions and get answers on your own time, and finish the homework whenever it fits in your schedule. We wanted this course to be as flexible as possible because we have so many students enrolled from all over the world, and there's really not a one-size-fits-all structure.
How much homework is there? What kind of weekly time commitment am I looking at?
As discussed above, you can go through the course at your own pace. If you'd like to finish the course in the 9-month timeframe that Amy uses to teach the live class, here's what it would look like:
- One 2-hour video class per week,
- plus homework that could be finished within 30 minutes. Some questions will invite comment on the somatic experience, and some will cover the new material. You'll get to discuss the homework with Amy & our Homework Coach until you feel comfortable with the what's been covered.
The classes are structured in three 10-week trimesters for a total of 30 weeks, and there is a short break between each trimester (like a holiday break and spring break.)
If you'd like, there are also bonus asana classes that accompany each lesson, but these are not required before moving on.
What do I need to get started?
Just a computer and a reliable internet connection. And don't worry, you don't need to be a computer whiz.
You'll be either streaming or downloading 2-hour video files, so we've found it to be most efficient if you have access to a solid high-bandwidth connection. You can still take the course if you don't have that, but it may mean overnight downloads, or going someplace with a faster connection to download, then watching later at home. We can help you figure out the best scenario for you on a case by case basis.

How do I get answers to my questions?
The quickest way to get an answer to a question is to post on the lesson page and Amy will respond right away.
